Students participate in a comprehensive Phys Ed program which is complemented by an extensive array of resources. Phys Ed lessons are an important part of the curriculum promoting health, fitness skill and teamwork by developing basic skills and encouraging abilities in a variety of sports. Students take part in a sport program that encompasses individual and team sports. Students are encouraged to compete in school-based athletics, interschool athletics and sport carnivals. Our school also has strong links with the community, promotes local sporting clubs and encourages visits from guest sporting entities. Student in Years 1 to Year 6 also take part in In-Term swimming lessons as part of the Physical Education curriculum. These lessons take place at Swan Active and are conducted by qualified swimming instructors.
At East Beechboro we have an active music program which provides students with the opportunity to develop musical and performance skills through singing, playing of instruments, listening, creating and movement to music. Opportunities are also provided for students to perform within the school and in the community.
Students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 take part in timetabled lessons and students from Years 3 to Year 6 are encouraged to participate in the school choir. Students in Years 5 and 6 are offered the opportunity to learn the classical guitar through the Department of Education’s School of Instrumental Music.
Our choir are given the opportunity to showcase their talents at assemblies, special events, our traditional Carols evening and the prestigious Massed Choir Festival.
Our Indonesian language program engages our Years 3-6 students in a variety of activities designed to develop language-based and cultural awareness of Indonesia. Students learn the basic skills of the Indonesian language through teacher-led and interactive activities aimed to develop communication and vocabulary skills.
